Customer Reviews

"5 stars for atmosphere is for the atmosphere provided by the owner, staff, and patrons; not for romance. Our 1st time and my gosh, we were treated as featured important guests by staff and patrons alike. Can't beat it. Best local neighborhood "home away from home" some might call a dive, but this dive soars with fun, warmth and perhaps the best burgers in the South. We loved it: the owner, staff, menu (sinful corn fritters) hamburgers, and delightful night out. A new and fave for us..."

"What a great hidden gem...if you are looking for a great homemade burger stop here. Hand pressed fresh burger patty....not a frozen patty. If your hungry get the double patty...Southern friendly hospitality.....It's a family restaurant for more than 70 years.. simple menu but good food..had the burger onion rings and homemade coleslaw slaw."

"I have finally found good food in Charlotte! Being from Chicago, it's been a challenge, but I go at least once sometimes twice a week! Love this place and Phil & Ellie are top notch!"

- Kari S.

"This the perfect burger spot! Getting to it was a little challenging but it was worth it! From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the staff and even the customers. Can you say "down home feel". I got a Cheeseburger with chill, Hot dog all the way with Chili (slaw, onions and mustard) and a small fry (I should have got a large). The prices were more than reasonable, my whole order was less than $20. The food was delicious and I will be back with my grandkids!"

- Dionne A.

"This is where the best cheeseburger in North Carolina resides. Handcrafted patties topped with slaw, mustard and onions is the combination to beat! The fries are hot and crispy! In business over 70 years, this is where people gather to enjoy not only some delicious food, but each other's company."

"1st timer. Friendly family owned business. A lot of history behind it. We really felt welcomed. Everything we ordered was so delicious. We loved the food. It was made with love. We definitely will be back to try some other menu items. You can see it from the highway and not hard to find."
